Database Search Tips for Better Results

Use Boolean operators ... simple words that are used to combine or exclude in a search, either to expand or narrow results.     Examples:  AND, OR, NOT
  • Dogs AND Cats searches for both words  (narrows search)
  • Dogs OR Cats searches for one or all, but both is optional  (expands search)
  • Dogs NOT Cats searches for the first word, DOGS and excludes sources with the word CATS  (narrows search)
